MigriX, developed by Migris AS in Trondheim, Norway, is a comprehensive software solution for simulating, animating, and visualizing the complex processes involved in the generation and migration of hydrocarbons within interactive 3D models. It is a fast and lightweight tool intended for use by explorationists in the basin and prospect evaluation process. MigriX is developed by Migris AS in Trondheim, Norway.

MigriX is based on the Migri software, but offers a more limited set of features. Projects created in MigriX can, however be opened and simulated in Migri, allowing for the use of the more advanced features such as probabilistic modelling. An overview of the differences between the two versions can be found in the Migri and MigriX chapter

MigriX and Migri  originate from concepts developed during and after the PhD of Øyvind Sylta in 2004. For further details on this, you can refer to the associated publications available on the Migris website (www.migris.no/technology/publications). Some of the key features that set MigriX apart include

The introduction chapter of the documentation covers various topics, including:

  • Release notes for recent MigriX versions.
  • Installation guides for Linux, MacOS and Windows.
  • Licensing options.
  • Frequently asked questions (FAQs).

For new users, it is recommended to start with an overview of MigriX and explore the basic demo project provided after installation. Additionally, a selection of open MigriX models is available for free download from https://migris.no/opendata/.

When you're ready to begin testing with your own data, you can proceed to the  Model building and Results sections. These sections provide an introduction to MigriX's input data, methods, and workflow.

The User Interface chapter offers a detailed description of the purpose and usage of all the different views, menus, dialogs, and components available within the MigriX software
